It's been quite a time to put on a show, what with (gestures broadly). Incredibly, we've discovered even deeper and more immediate resonance between Doc's story and the world we find ourselves in today. We're so grateful to everyone who's made it out to the Broadwater Studio.
Thank you as well to those who took the time to share your sparkling, insightful reviews! You reassure us this story isn't just for boys who grew up on the salmon and trees of the Pacific Northwest, but for anyone interested in a fresh examination of how we got where we are… with jokes! And brilliant projections!
In our Buddhist practice we talk a lot about finding your personal mission for world peace. For me, that is the communal experience of art, especially as a performer. When forces of hate fill our collective memories with awful images of oppression, I truly believe one antidote is to intentionally join together in artistic reflection. Doing so refreshes our spirit, providing a counterbalance to the onslaught of social destruction by those who would divide us.
So yes, march, call your reps, make your voices heard; but also claim your right to come together in joy. We hope to see you at the theater.
